SXM28a Sarracenia x moorei -- 'Saurus'

Sarracenia x moorei -- ‘Saurus’ is surely one of the Sarracenia cultivars that has generated the most intense excitement globally over the last 15 years.

King of cultivars since the 2010s, this plant, exceptionally rare at that time, has gradually become more accessible to avid collectors.

Resulting from the cross S. leucophylla × S. flava var. ornata, this plant is renowned for its extraordinary proportions, its coloration, and the extreme variability of its genetics for hybridization. This Sarracenia produces massive pitchers that can reach 85 to 100 cm on well-established plants. More than its height, it is above all its width, robustness, and imposing appearance that make it one of the most sought-after hybrids to date.

This plant will require a few years of growth in a collection before revealing its full potential.

The pitchers evolve from green veined with red to a deep plum to dark red hue, with white fenestrations on the hood. The interior of the pitchers becomes intensely colored, almost metallic/silky in full light.

This cultivar is officially registered with the ICPS.
