SXA02 Sarracenia x 'Alucard' -- "Prince of Darkness" (MW)

Sarracenia x 'Alucard' is an officially registered cultivar, but in the form of a "grex," which means any seedling resulting from a cross between a rubricorpora and a 'Royal Ruby' can technically be considered 'Alucard', as long as it matches the general description of the cultivar. The plant's registrar allowed this nuance compared to the unique cultivars usually registered because there was a certain homogeneity in the seedlings produced (to put it simply: large red plants).

From this original cross made by Phil Faulisi, 2 clones stood out for their remarkable characteristics:

• The "Select" selected by Mike Wang
• The "Prince of Darkness" presented here

The "Prince of Darkness" version presented here is an exceptional plant in any collection. When you see it for the first time, it is hard to imagine a more attractive plant at the top of your "Most Wanted List." That was certainly the case for me. Darker in the heart of the season than the "Select" and with a different shape, PoD rises like the Prince of Darkness to loom over your entire collection with its blackness.

Believe me, this plant will be able to bring a smile back to your face after your grayest of days.

Like the "Select," "Prince of Darkness" will reveal its full potential when left to become well-established over several seasons (between 3 and 5) in its pot. But the wait is truly rewarded by its unique and exceptional characteristics.
