Sarracenia x 'alucard' is an officially registered cultivar but in the form of a "grex", which means that any seedling resulting from the cross between a rubricorpora and a 'Royal Ruby' can technically be considered 'Alucard', as long as it fits the general description of the cultivar. The plant registrar allowed this distinction from the usually registered single cultivars because there was a certain homogeneity in the seedlings produced (to put it simply: large red plants).

The "Prince of Darkness" version presented here is an exceptional plant in any collection. When you see it for the first time, it's hard to have a more attractive plant at the top of your "Most Wanted List". This was certainly my personal case. Darker in the middle of the season than the "Select" and with a different shape, PoD rises like the Prince of Darkness to overlook your entire collection with its darkness.
Believe me, this plant will put a smile back on your face after the darkest of your days.
Like "Select," "Prince of Darkness" will reveal its full potential if it is allowed to establish itself well for several seasons (between 3 and 5) in its pot. But the wait is truly rewarded by its unique and exceptional characteristics.
