The most famous and coveted Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea in recent years. Its bright red coloration occurs mainly when the urns are opened under maximum sunlight; the inside of the traps is yellow with a central red vein, which gives it this extraordinary contrast. Then, as the urns mature, the bright red gives way to a dark red and the inside of the traps infuse red in varying ways.
